Conquer Alcoholism: Help for Functioning Alcoholics and their Families
Dr. Neill Neill
"Alcoholism and Alcohol Rehab" is a new resource I’m creating in response to reader requests. You have made frequent pleas for help for your functioning alcoholic spouses who want to stop alcohol abuse, but can’t seem to quit drinking.
Alcohol abuse is one of the toughest and most pervasive issues confronting family life in North America and beyond. It affects both men and women and it cuts across all income levels.
As with this website, all materials on the new site are presented in plain English.
The purpose of www.ConquerAlcoholism.com is to provide solid information and guidance to two groups:
-
Those who have an alcohol abuse problem, whether or not they want to change.
-
The spouses, parents, or adult children of functioning alcoholics.
Not Another 12-Step Website
Although there will be reference to AA ( Alcoholics Anonymous ) and 12-step approaches to alcohol treatment, the underlying philosophy of the new website arises from the experience that full, permanent alcohol recovery is achievable.
Alcoholism is not a disease, but an unhealthy choice. You can conquer addiction…permanently. I did it myself after the Mayo Clinic experts identified drinking as the source of the severe health problems I was experiencing.
The One-Year Plan
Over the next year, www.ConquerAlcoholism.com will introduce treatment programs for both alcoholics and their spouses.
For now, only one program is introduced, an alcohol rehab program for high-profile functioning alcoholics who must keep their alcohol problem out of the public eye and who cannot miss work; for example, doctors, CEOs and political leaders. Up to now, these men and women have found almost all existing drug and alcohol rehab programs unsuitable.
A program for spouses is operating, but is still in beta testing. Stay tuned, or contact me.
You Can Make a Difference
Check out www.ConquerAlcoholism.com. Then use the comments section below to tell me what sub-topics you most want to see articles about. Now is the best time to do it, because I can modify my development plan to incorporate your suggestions and answer your questions.

I would like to see an emphasis or section on how to keep your children from becoming alcoholics.
